What is BMT

What is BMT?

A bone marrow transplant replaces damaged or diseased bone marrow with healthy blood-forming stem cells.

Types of BMT

Autologous BMT

Uses the patient's own stem cells, collected and given back after high-dose treatment.

Allogeneic BMT

Uses stem cells from a matched donor, such as a sibling or an unrelated donor.

Haploidentical BMT

Uses a half-matched family donor, such as a parent, sibling or child.

Cord Blood Transplant

Uses stem cells from donated umbilical cord blood.
